Ambar (Plaza del Duque)

I know, I know, this isn’t technically a restaurant, but it’s still a great place to have a drink at, and is right next door to Bianco’s.

Ambar, in Plaza Del Duque, is a relatively new bar. It’s right nextdoor to the new Bianco’s, and can be described as a ‘chillout’ bar.

The staff are friendly and attentive, and there is something to drink for everyone.

They specialise, however, in cocktails, and this is where they excel. Not only do you have the choice of any ‘normal’ cocktails, but they also do a good selection of their own cocktails. The mint Mojito is delicious.

My wife doesn’t really like cocktails, or strong alcohol, however, after asking for something ‘like a strawberry milkshake’, that was exactly what she got. It had a few different types of alcohol in it, but you wouldn’t have known that from the taste, it did taste very much like a strawberry milkshake!

It’s not very well explained on the menu’s, but if theres nothing you fancy, then tell the bar staff what it is you like dirnking normally, and they will ‘custom-make’ a cocktail to suit you.

The decor is perfect for the market I guess they’re aiming for, ‘chillouty’ and even though the sofa’s and chairs are plastic, and don’t actually look comfortable, I can assure you they are once you sit on them.

It closes about 1am, and is just a short cab ride away to Faro’s, which is a nice place to end the evening (if a little expensive - 8 euros for a smirnoff and coke?! - thats for a different post though).
